The Shush castle, also known as the castle of Akrapel or the French fortress, was built by the French archaeological department in 1897 on the highest point of the city of Susa. The castle is very similar to the French Bastille Prison, which is built by the architects from Dezful using bricks from Dariush Palace and a number of Cuneiform bricks from chogha zanbil.
